Founded in June,2011 and headquartered in Shanghai, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Research Institute has established R&D centers in different cities in China, like Beijing, Chongqing, Nanjing, Hefei, Liuzhou, Suzhou and Xiamen where mainly SONGZ manufacturing base located and now it has many provincial and municipal technical centers and more than 350 engineering technicians, among whom those of master degree and above accounts for over 10%.
The Research Institute has applied for more than 400 patents, including more than100 patents for invention, and formulated 2 national standards, 3 industry standards and more than 40 enterprise standards. The Research Institute acts in industry-university-research cooperation with colleges and universities such as Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tongji University and Shanghai University of Science and Technology in technological breakthrough, industrialized process development, top talent cultivation and academic exchange.
In 2018, after SONGZ acquired and held shares of Finland Lumikko, the R&D center in Europe has been formed.

SONGZ Laboratory Center
SONGZ Laboratory center is located at SONGZ HQ, Shanghai China, equipped with more than 20 sets of large and medium-sized testing equipments. Most of the equipments are domestic leading. The climatic wind tunnel, air conditioning performance test bench, semi-anechoic room and other key equipments reached the international advanced level. It has the comprehensive test capability for air conditioning component, AC system, HVAC and whole vehicle. CRM system is adopted in the test center to manage the test process, data and equipment. In 2016, it was recognized by ISO/IEC 17025:2005 system of China national accreditation service for conformity assessment and in 2018, SONGZ laboratory center has been accredited by BYD as the Supplier Laboratory Accreditation Certificate.

Vehicle Climate Wind Tunnel
SONGZ climatic wind tunnel integrated the defrosting automatic surveying and mapping system for the first time in China. Based on high-definition photography and image processing technology, the defrosting area was measured and calculated in real time, which effectively improved the test efficiency. It is also the first climatic wind tunnel that integrates 60 kW DC fast charging piles, which provides a powerful guarantee for the development of new energy vehicle battery thermal management systems.
The climatic wind tunnel center is located at SONGZ HQ, in Shanghai, China, which covers an area of 1,650 m² and has an investment of USD 17 million. It was officially put into use in June 2018, and its technical level is leading globally.
Vehicle air conditioning cooling performance test, vehicle air conditioning maximum heating performance test, vehicle cold start test, air conditioning controller calibration test, vehicle air conditioning defrosting/defogging performance test, air conditioning performance test, air conditioning performance test under working conditions in typical cities, vehicle air conditioning system dynamic response test.
The design and manufacture of subsystems all adopt excellent sub-suppliers in the industry. Solar simulation, chassis Dynamometer, main fan, cooling system, test chamber and other major equipment are imported from Germany, can simulate the -30 ℃ - + 60 ℃ environmental temperature, 5%-95% of the environmental humidity, with full spectrum solar simulation function and can carry out four-wheel drive chassis power meter device.
The wind tunnel can not only test the air conditioning and cooling systems of conventional passenger vehicles, but also static tests of buses within 10 meters in length and 10 tons in weight.

After using increasing enthalpy by replenish gas technology, in environmental temperature -25 ℃ condition, air conditioning system can run normal heating, compared to past equipment under the condition of COP value will increase by more than 30%, leading the era of "cold".

3. Low temperature heat pump:
Heat pump from the current work critical temperature - 3 ℃, can reduce the - 20 degrees Celsius;
